App Store screenshot size checker
Drop in your screenshots and this checker tells you, per file, whether App Store Connect and the Google Play Console will accept it and why not if they won't. It matches exact pixel dimensions against every iPhone and iPad class, checks Play's size and aspect-ratio range, detects the alpha channel that both stores silently reject, and flags files over 8 MB. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
What it checks, and why each one matters
- Exact dimensions. Apple accepts a fixed list of sizes per device class. One pixel off and the upload fails with a generic “invalid image” error and no explanation. The checker names the class you hit, or the class you nearly hit and by how many pixels.
- Google Play's range. Play is looser: each side between 320 and 3840 px and an aspect ratio between 16:9 and 9:16. The usual failure is an iPhone 6.9″ screenshot, which is taller than 9:16.
- Alpha channel. Both stores reject PNGs with transparency, even when nothing looks transparent. The checker reads the PNG colour type and looks for a tRNS chunk, which is exactly what the stores test.
- File size. 8 MB per screenshot on both stores; 1 MB for the Play icon.

Frequently asked questions
What does the screenshot size checker validate?
Four things per file: exact pixel dimensions against every App Store screenshot class (all iPhone and iPad sizes, portrait and landscape) and Google Play's 320–3840 px and 16:9 to 9:16 limits; file format (PNG or JPEG only); whether a PNG carries an alpha channel or tRNS transparency, which both stores reject; and file size against the 8 MB cap. It also recognises the Play feature graphic (1024×500) and icon (512×512) sizes.
Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?
No. The checker reads the file in your browser with the standard image decoder and a few bytes of the PNG header. Nothing leaves your device and nothing is stored.
Why does App Store Connect reject a screenshot that is one pixel off?
Apple matches uploads to a fixed list of accepted resolutions per device class. A 1260×2735 image matches nothing, so the upload fails with a generic "invalid image" message and no detail. The accepted 6.9-inch iPhone size is 1260×2736 (or 1290×2796 / 1320×2868), and the 13-inch iPad size is 2064×2752.
Why does Google Play reject my App Store screenshots?
The iPhone 6.9-inch master is about 9:19.5, which is taller than Play's 9:16 limit. Play accepts any size between 320 and 3840 px per side with an aspect ratio between 16:9 and 9:16, so re-compose at 1080×1920 instead of cropping.
